3.10 Wellness

Vivi’s Wellness feature allows teachers to access Vivi’s partnership with Headspace and play meditations and breathing exercises directly from the Vivi app.

To use, select Wellness from a room’s homepage.

On the Wellness page, you will be presented with options under the categories of Breathing, Finding Happiness meditations, and Staying Positive meditations. To begin, select the exercise/meditation you want to play. Playback will begin automatically. Once playing, you will see some controls at the bottom of the Vivi app which will allow you stop, pause, and control the volume.

Once playback begins, the classroom display will show a holding image and play the audio. Once complete, the classroom display will return to the standard Vivi screen.

3.11 Share Screen Timer

The Share Screen Timer allows teachers to display a countdown timer on the display using the Vivi App while also sharing their screen.

This feature requires updates to the Vivi app and the Vivi hardware (Version 3.6.0 or newer). If it is not available, ensure your Vivi app is up to date (you can check your app version by clicking on the Settings cog in the upper-right corner of the app. The Vivi Version will be displayed in the bottom-left of the pop-up). If still not available, speak to your IT Administrator.

3.11.1 Using Share Screen Timer from the Floating Toolbar

After selecting Share Screen and Vivi shrinks into the Floating Toolbar, select Timer from the toolbar

Upon selecting Timer, use the + and - buttons to increase or decrease the number of minutes the timer will run for. Alternatively, you can type into the minutes and seconds amounts to change these.

Use the screen buttons to choose where the timer will be shown on the classroom display.

Once ready, select the play button to begin the timer.

Once the timer starts, it will be displayed both as an attachment on the Floating Toolbar and as an overlay on the classroom display. As the timer counts down, a gradually decreasing blue bar will be shown to give a visual representation of how long is left on the timer.

Use the +1m or +5m buttons to increase the timer by 1 minute or 5 minutes. Use the screen buttons to change where the overlay is shown on the classroom display. The timer can also be stopped or paused.

In the final five seconds, the blue bar will change to yellow indicating the timer is nearly complete.

At the conclusion of the timer, the words TIME’S UP! will be displayed and a short notification will sound.

3.11.2 Using Share Screen Timer from the full app

If using the Vivi app on a device that does not switch into the toolbar when Share Screen is selected, to use the Share Screen Timer, select the Timer icon from the lower toolbar.

Once selected, the timer functions as listed above will appear on the right-hand side of the Vivi app.

3.11.3 Using Share Screen Timer in the Whiteboard

If in the Vivi Whiteboard, while Sharing Screen, the Timer icon will appear in the upper right.

Once selected, the timer functions as listed above will appear on the right-hand side of the Vivi app.

3.12 Room Combining

Teachers are able to temporarily join classroom displays together using Vivi’s Room Combining feature.

3.12.1 Combining Rooms

To use the Room Combining feature, on the Rooms page, select Combine Rooms (underneath the list of Rooms).

Choose up to 10 rooms in the same location/sub-location, then click Combine. A pop-up will appear that will allow you to rename the Room Combination (by default it will be a name that lists the individual rooms), then select Confirm.

The Vivi devices will then need to do a soft restart to join them together. This generally takes up to 30 seconds. Once combined, you will be automatically connected to the combined room.

3.12.2 Presenting in a Combined Room

In a Combined Room, to begin presenting, select Share Screen. A bar will then appear at the bottom of the app allowing you to select either All Displays or an individual display. Depending on the set-up of the Vivi devices, the displays may either have a specific name or be numbered with Display 1, Display 2, etc. To know what number display each room is, look at the information bar on the Classroom Display.

Once sharing, the drop down in the lower tool bar on the homepage can be used to control individual displays.

To finish sharing, use either the Stop button in the floating toolbar, in the orange bar at the bottom of the homepage, or Stop All button.

3.12.3 Audio in Combined Rooms

By default, audio will only play to the first display selected in a Combined Room. You can enable “All Display Audio” to have audio sent to all displays. To do this, go to Settings through the cog in the upper right, select Room Settings, check the box next to All Display Audio, use the slider to select how long the All Display Audio will be enabled for, then select Apply Settings.

3.12.4 Separating Combined Rooms

Any teacher is able to break apart a Combine Room, even if they did not create it. To separate, click on the Uncombine Rooms button next to the room name in the room’s homepage. The Vivi devices will then need to do a soft restart to break them apart. This generally takes no more than 30 seconds. Once separated, you will be able to connect to individual rooms.
